Program Overview
Currently there are a significant number of frozen defined benefit plans in the private sector pension universe. While exact statistics are hard to find, a conservative estimate is that one in five participants in defined benefit plans in the private sector universe are affected by plan freezes. Many experts believe there is a confluence of events that may lead to a wave of plan terminations in the next few years. In light of this potential activity, the Conference of Consulting Actuaries and the SOA's Pension Section are hosting a special plan termination web/audiocast series in early 2012 to provide education to actuaries on the key aspects of plan terminations. This seminar series includes the following sessions:
February 22, 2012: Session 1 - Group Annuities 101 for Pension Actuaries
Unveil the mysteries of group annuity underwriting and pricing and other considerations in the context of a pension plan termination.
March 21, 2012: Session 2 - Funding and Investment Strategy
Learn how funding and investment strategies become intertwined as a plan nears termination.
April 11, 2012: Session 3 - Getting It Done
Learn how to navigate the multitude of administrative tasks and filings involved in terminating a pension plan.
Join us for this web/audiocast series, to learn about the unique challenges and knowledge needed when implementing a pension plan termination. The sessions can be purchased either as a package, with special discounted pricing, or individually.
